Not a complete agenda, just stuff I was mildly interested in:
- Meeting start
- Introduction of new members: Sadira Clark and Wonwoo Lee (see also mlive article)
- Lisa Disch's summary of Council action on Brightdawn (see also mlive article)
- Public hearing: Tom Stulberg and Ralph McKee on C1A and C1A/R zoning. Then some announcements of coming public hearings.
- St. Francis of Assisi petition: they're constructing an addition.
- 416 W Huron Parking Lot Pavement Improvements
- New retail building at Westgate (300 S Maple) (former Quarter Bistro site)
- Site plan review threshholds: some projects can be approved by staff alone, some have to go to the planning commission, and some have to go all the way to city council. Generally the bigger the project, the more process required. The question is where to set the threshholds. Recommendations are in the direction of requiring less process for smaller projects. Also a possible recommendation on doing away with council approval in the case a project is by-right. It all sounds good to me. See Legistar link above for details.
- discussion of C1A and C1A/R: looks like staff recommendation is to keep the districts, remove minimum front setbacks, and add setbacks and height limits to limit height near residential districts. Again, see Legistar for details. Looking at the zoning map.... The Packard and State area is the biggest existing C1A/R I can find right now. A lot of the areas you might think of as "campus areas" are D1 or D2. Lowertown (1200 Broadway) is C1A/R; maybe it would work for more of the medical campus area.
Next meeting is January 5, 2021.
